SILLY SEASON 2012 - The latest driver moves going into the 2012 season

01 Trevor Cristiani – Former AABLM champion moves to K&N full-time

 

Jack Sellers

5 Dylan Hutchison – Part-time or full-time program being mulled for Hutchison

 

Sunrise Ford / Bob Bruncati

6 Derek Thorn – Thorn ran the last few races of 2011 and will go for the championship in 2012

 

Bill McAnally Racing

10 Bobby Grewohl – Rumored to run full-time after posts on FB with 2012 K&N schedule

17 David Mayhew – Rumored to come back full-time with Victory Circle’s Mark Lundgren at the helm

# Jacob Gomes – will run for JRC and also for family-owned team in about half of the K&N races this year

88 Jessica Brunelli – Unsigned, but moved back to California recently and is pursuing sponsorship.  Ran three races in the 88 last year.

24 Cameron Hayley – Rumored to have shopped a deal with Gene Price and Bill McAnally.  One rumor has him driving West for McAnally and SRL for Price.

3 Jared Vorse – Instant title contender by moving to BSR after 14th in points last year

4 Dave Byrd – Byrd is back to BSR after 7th in 2011 points with low-budget Kenny Whalen team

21 Bobby Runyan - Former Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle driver has joined Golden Gate Racing to run the 6 race series at Madera.  He is also likely to run some Roseville and Stockton races as a teammate to Michael Self

 

50 Chris Lambert – Former Street Stock champion moves into Late Models

 

74 Luis Tyrell – Possibly teaming up with Nascimento Motorsports after strong Legends season in 2011

 

84 Mindy McCord – McCord has relocated to Sacramento area from Montana to work at Naake shop and drive Late Models presumably at both Stockton and Roseville

 

All American Speedway / Stockton 99 Speedway Modifieds

 

# Multiple drivers – Ron Sutton’s Winner’s Circle will likely field a third full-time Modified to be split between Joey Licata and new members Cody Hoover, Matt Gilbert, Kyle Slader, and Tripp Gaylord

 

# Jessica Clark – 2011 double Ford Focus champ will move into the Modifieds full-time with RSWC

 

# Paden Phillips – Strong performances in late 2011 RSWC campaign have him likely for full-time in 2012

 

# Brodie Kostecki – 24-time USAC Ford Focus winner in 2011 likely to run Modifieds in 2012, possibly in Lucas Oil Tour instead of Roseville / Stockton program

 

08 Mickey Owens - Former All American Speedway Street Stock champion driver and engine builder will run for the Modified title in 2012

 

2 Todd Lewis - Former Altamont regular Todd Lewis shared with us his 2012 plans which include part-time in the Star Racing Supply limited Modifieds at Stockton 99.  His oldest sons Tyler Lewis and Dallas Dildine will share a Mini Truck at Antioch Speedway while daughter Jillian Breese will run a kart at Stockton Motorplex.  Busy season in store for the Lewis family

 

63 Mikey Regelman - Regelman will return to drive for Cherokee Muffler in a bid for the California State championship

 

98 TBA - In addition to fielding a Modified for Keegan Walmer, K&K Motorsports intends to field a second car at All American Speedway for a funded driver.  K&K Motorsports may swell to as many as four cars with Cody Thompson's family possibly fielding a second car as well.

 

King of the West Sprints

 

00 Jason Statler - Jason Statler has confirmed to us that he will return to the KWS in the DF Rios #00 car for the 2012 championship run

 

83 Tim Kaeding – It was confirmed at the King of the West banquet that Tim Kaeding will return with Roth to compete for the 2012 KWS championship

 

# Tyler Walker – popular former King of California was rumored to return.  No idea if that will materialize

 

89 Rico Abreu – Abreu ran most of the 2011 season and was expected to run for the 2012 championship but has confirmed to us that his 2012 plans are still up in the air at this time.

 

California Sprint Car Civil War

 

14s Justin Sanders – Sanders will go for the 2012 championship aboard the Smitty Boys mount wrenched by Darin Smith

 

88 Koen Shaw - 2011 Ocean Sprints regular Koen Shaw has moved up into the Civil War for a full-time run in 2012

 

Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo

 

2 Brad Furr – Furr hit the King of the West full-time in 2011 but is expected to return to Watsonville on a full-time basis in 2012 for a championship run

 

9J Shane Golobic – After splitting time between the 121 and the #9 last year, Golobic will go for the championship in the #9J Steve Osborne car

 

21x Carson Mecedo - Micro Sprint racer moving up to Sprints.  Running for Rookie of the Year as a teammate to Tommy Tarlton

 

USAC Western Classic Racing Series

 

2 Ryan Bernal – With GoPro sponsorship, Ryan Bernal is expected to run most of the Western Classic dirt campaign.  Bernal has updated his plans as of February 9th to include full-time in the USAC/CRA, splitting time between Kittle Motorsports and Josh Ford Racing.  Bernal will mix in USAC West Coast 360 and USAC Western Classic races to round out his busy 2012 schedule

 

3F Geoff Ensign – 2012 overall champion not expected to return to the series at this time

 

7 Taylor Simas – Purchased an injected 360 in the off-season and may run entire dirt schedule

 

25b Dustin Baxter - Petaluma Wingless regular has announced plans to run a 410 powered car in several of the USAC Western Classic / CRA combination races in 2012

 

56 Scott Hall - Likely to run the full 2012 schedule depending on the rules for CRA combination races

 

# Scott Clough – Rumored to run the full dirt schedule in 2012 after a few years out of the seat

 

Silver Dollar Speedway

 

04 Kevin Sharrah – Sharrah is going for the 2012 track championship with Dutch Bros. sponsorship

 

2 BJ Martin - Driver finished third in Wingless points in 2011 and is expected to move into 410s

 

13 Rowdy McClenon - Another Wingless driver rumored to be racing 410s this season

 

# Bud Walberg - Modified driver who has sold his car and purchased a 410 to race at Silver Dollar in 2012

 

56 Scott Hall - Listed as one of the top contenders for 2012 championship according to a poll on Facebook

15 Ryan Reed - Former Super Late Model standout throughout the Southwest is likely to run the full ARCA Racing Series for Venturini Motorsports after a strong showing at Daytona

44 Dylan Lupton - Former Irwindale Speedway regular Dylan Lupton has signed with FDJ Motorsports to run Late Models throughout North Carolina and Virginia in 2012
