ROSEVILLE, Calif. – Cameron Hayley, driver of the No. 24 Cabinets by Hayley/NAPA Batteries Toyota Camry and NAPA filters at select events, will return for a full season in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West this year and make a run for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors. He will be teamed with three-time series champion Eric Holmes, who returns to pilot the No. 20 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry. Cameron’s crew chief will be Mario Isola.
Fifteen-year-old Cameron Hayley made four starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West last season. He made an impression on fans and racers alike as he finished in second at Montana Raceway Park in his first start. He recorded two top-fives in those four starts and has set his sights on not only the rookie of the year title but also on being a contender in the chase for his first series championship all while juggling his high school class schedule back in Canada.
Recent years that end in even numbers have been championship winning years for veteran NASCAR K&N Pro Series driver Eric Holmes so 2012 is looking up. He won his first series championship in 2006 and went on to bring NAPA AUTO PARTS their fourth and fifth championship in 2008 and 2010. Returning is crew chief Ty Joiner who served as his crew chief winning two of those three championships. (Matt Goslant was the crew chief on the No. 20 NAPA Toyota in 2010).
Also on the roster for select races in the fifteen-race schedule will be the 2010 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series champion DJ Kennington. He will pilot the No. 81 Northern Provincial Pipelines Toyota in both of the scheduled races at Phoenix International Raceway. In the five-year history of the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, Kennington has finished in the championship point race third in 2008, second in 2007, 2009, and 2011. He won his first series championship in 2010.
Driving the No. 99 GASS Toyota Camry will be Chris Evans. The owner of the Great American Stockcar Series (GASS) has also expanded the GASS operations and has established a West Coast base in Roseville, California. The location is shared with Bill McAnally Racing and will provide increased national visibility to the GASS program. More information on the GASS series is available at www.gasstv.com. Evans made two series starts in 2011.
For a second season, Canadian Jamie Krzysik will make a run for the NASCAR Western Late Model Series championship at All American Speedway. He will pilot the No. 20 for BMR. He finished 8th in the point standings with six starts.
NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver Ben Kennedy will drive a BMR prepared Toyota Camry in three NASCAR K&N Pro Series West events in 2012. He will be at both races at Phoenix International Raceway and also at Colorado National Speedway. Kennedy’s racing roots go back three generations, and now the 20 year old is making his own mark in a sport virtually synonymous with his family. Kennedy, the great grandson of NASCAR founder, William France Sr., and son of International Speedway Corporation CEO, Lesa France Kennedy has already garnered championships in the Pro-Truck classes and a Super Late Model track championship in his rookie season in Florida, where he resides. He will compete in the full schedule of race in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2012.
